Sandy Silver was elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in the general election of October 11, 2011.
Mr. Silver is the Liberal caucus critic for all government departments.
Mr. Silver sits on the Members’ Services Board, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, the Standing Committee on Appointments to Major Government Board and Committees, the Standing Committee on Rules, Elections and Privileges, and the Standing Committee on Statutory Instruments.
Originally from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Mr. Silver has lived in Dawson City since 1998. Prior to his election to the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Silver was a high-school math teacher at Robert Service School, a mentor and sports coach.
Mr. Silver devotes time and technical expertise to a wide array of organizations and events. He has served as the President of the Dawson City Music Festival, has volunteered for countless local organizations and is a tutor, a basketball and badminton coach, and music instructor.
Mr. Silver holds degrees in math and psychology from Saint Francis Xavier University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Maine.
