Hon. Currie Dixon

Currie Dixon was elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in the general election of October 11, 2011. He was sworn into Cabinet on November 5, 2011 as the Minister of Environment and Minister of Economic Development, becoming the youngest Cabinet Minister in Yukon history. On January 16, 2015 he was named Minister of Community Services and Minister responsible for the Public Service Commission. He is currently one of the youngest cabinet ministers in Canada and among the youngest in Canadian history.
Currie graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in political science and history. In the spring of 2011 he graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia with a Master of Arts degree in political science. His studies there focused on northern and First Nations governments and his Masters project examined the relationship between Yukon First Nations governments and the Yukon government in the field of education.
After completing his undergraduate degree in 2008, Currie worked as a political advisor in the Cabinet Offices of the Yukon Government, and upon the completion of graduate school he returned to the Cabinet Offices as the Senior Policy Advisor to the Premier, where he worked until the 2011 Yukon general election.
Currie was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon and has lived in the North his whole life. He lives with his wife, Brittany and their daughter, London in the Copper Ridge neighbourhood of Whitehorse.
