Youth Parliament

Youth Parliament is an opportunity for our young people from grades 10 through 12 in Yukon Secondary Schools, to get involved in democracy and get a first-hand look at how government works.

Students have the opportunity to meet with the Premier, Leader of the Official Opposition, Leader of the Third Party and members of the Media, where their roles and responsibilities are explained.  There are other opportunities to talk with current and former Members of the Yukon Legislative Assembly, and observe proceedings in the Legislative Assembly.

Members of the Youth Parliament create their own debate subjects and have the opportunity to engage in debate in their own proceedings, which take place in the Yukon legislative Assembly Chamber, in Yukon's capital city, Whitehorse.
